Every year the city vineyard of the Hague (Haagse stadswijngaard) ask an artist to design the label of a specific wine they produced that year. This time it was a port wine. Together with Ivi Apostolatos and Merel Meijer we designed a label inspired by the beautiful Portugese tiles. Both Portugal and the Hague have a bird as their symbol: the rooster and the stork. From a set of abstract shapes together with the grid from the tiles we made a graphic illustration of the birds who together form the center of the label.
